The plant species - A tomato plant is considered a plant species; plants of one species can reproduce with each other and thus spread.

The plant family - tomatoes belong to the nightshade family. The plant family is the higher-level genus of a plant species.

The variety - "Pineapple tomato". A variety refers to stable variants of a plant species. Enter the name of your variety here.

Is your plant a perennial? And is it hardy for your climate? Then this plant is permaculture. Select yes here.

The planting break - the period in years during which no replanting takes place on the same sub-area. Changing the planting break is rarely useful. If you rework or replace your soil every year, you can reduce the number of years. If there is high pest pressure and diseases, you can increase it instead.

Growing time – also called life cycle. The number of months. It starts with planting out. And ends with the complete harvest.

In which month would you like to plant out this plant (out into the soil)? In May? Then choose the period from 5 to 5 - sometimes it can make sense to choose a larger period, e.g. for lettuce, so you can also plan for a second sowing.

If you'd rather pre-grow this plant, select “Pre-growing” here. Do you prefer direct sowing for this plant, or do you buy young plants?

The period from sowing to planting readiness. How many months in advance should I remind you to pre-grow your young plants? (For example, for a cucumber it's enough to pre-grow it 1 - 2 months before planting out.)

Plant spacing within a row. (Based on this information, the maximum number of plants that fit into this growing area or sub-area can be determined later.)

The spacing between rows. Based on this information, the maximum number of plants that fit into this growing area or sub-area can be determined later. You can also increase this value to allow for a walkway.

(0 means it is a light germinator.)

Germination temperature is the temperature range in which seeds germinate best. If the soil is within this range, the seeds sprout faster and more evenly. If it's significantly colder or warmer, many seeds won't germinate at all or only very slowly.

Germination time is the period from sowing until the first green tips appear. The range tells you: it can take at least this many days, and at most this many days. If nothing is visible after the maximum number of days, it's worth taking a closer look at soil, moisture, and temperature.

Is general protection against pests recommended?

Is general protection against rain or wind recommended?

Winter crops are plants that, unlike tomatoes, overwinter in the bed.

Is additional cold protection recommended?

Just like us humans, your little plants need nutrients. Tomatoes are very hungry; lettuce is more on a diet.

Good partners

Good partners can complement each other due to different characteristics.

Bad partners
